Installation

The plugin is source-free: a precompiled folder you drop into your project. There is no build step and no change to the engine.

Install

  1. Download the package for your Unreal version (5.6, 5.7 or 5.8).
  2. Unzip it. Inside is a single MetaHumanFBXExporter folder.
  3. Put that folder in your project's Plugins folder. If the project has no Plugins folder yet, create one next to the .uproject file:

    YourProject/
      YourProject.uproject
      Content/
      Plugins/
        MetaHumanFBXExporter/

  4. Start the Unreal Editor (or restart it if it was open).

Turn it on, if needed

The plugin is set to enable itself. If it does not appear, turn it on by hand:

  1. Edit → Plugins.
  2. Search for FBX Exporter.
  3. Tick FBX Exporter for MetaHumans.
  4. Restart the editor when prompted.

This is only needed once, and usually only if the project had an older copy of the plugin disabled in its settings.

Find the tool

Once the plugin is on, the exporter is under Tools → Firecrest → Export MetaHuman. That opens the exporter window, which The Export Process walks through.

What you did not have to do

There is no C++ to compile, no project regeneration, and no engine files touched. A source-free plugin loads its shipped code and never rebuilds. Removing it later is deleting the folder.
