Licence

The licence for the FBX Exporter for MetaHumans, made by Firecrest Roost. It covers version 0.8.0 and every later version you receive under it.

By installing or using the exporter, you agree to it. You buy the exporter through Gumroad, which handles the sale. The licence itself comes from us, and covers how you use the exporter.

In Short

  • One purchase covers your whole studio.
  • What you export is yours.
  • Your MetaHumans stay under Epic's own terms.
  • The exporter itself stays inside your studio.
  • Every update up to and including 1.0.0 is included.

Who It Covers

One licence covers one studio. A studio is a company, a group of people working together on the same projects, or one person working alone. Everyone who works on the studio's projects may install and use the exporter for them, staff and contractors alike, on as many machines as they need.

A contractor working under a client's licence may use it only for that client's projects. A freelancer with a licence of their own may use it for any client and hand over what they export. A client who wants to run the exporter itself needs a licence of its own.

What You Export Is Yours

We claim nothing in what the exporter writes: the FBX and OBJ files, the textures, the materials and the import settings. As far as we are concerned, you may use them in any project, commercial or not, with no royalty, and ship them in your games and apps.

Your MetaHumans Stay Under Epic's Terms

The exporter carries your character out of Unreal. It does not change who owns the character, or what you may do with it. MetaHuman characters, and what you export from them, remain under Epic Games' own terms, and those terms decide where and how you may use them, in Unity or anywhere else. It is up to you to follow them. Nothing in this licence grants any right in Epic's content.

Keeping It Inside Your Studio

You may not share, sell, rent or give away the exporter, or any of its files, outside your studio. That includes putting it anywhere others can download it, such as a public repository.

You may change the exporter's files for your studio's own use. A changed copy stays under this licence and inside your studio too, and we can only support the exporter as we shipped it.

Updates

Every beta buyer gets every update, free, up to and including 1.0.0. Updates reach you through the same Gumroad product you bought.

Later versions may come with a different licence. A licence bought during the beta keeps covering your whole studio, for every version you receive.

If You Got It Free With FaceCue

A licence that came free with FaceCue during the beta is this same licence, on the same terms, including the updates and the studio scope above. What comes with FaceCue after 1.0.0 may be different.

No Warranty

The exporter is provided as it is, and it is a beta. We make no promise that it suits your purpose or runs without faults, so keep backups of your projects. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using it, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for it.

Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

If the Licence Ends

The licence lasts as long as you keep to it. If you break it, it ends, and you must stop using the exporter and delete your copies. What you exported before then stays yours.

Trademarks

The exporter is an independent tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by Epic Games. MetaHuman and Unreal Engine are trademarks of Epic Games, Inc. Unity is a trademark of Unity Technologies.

Open-Source Parts

The exporter includes two open-source libraries, numpy and Pillow, which it uses to write the textures. They come under their own licences, not this one, and their notices are in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt in the download.
